My name is Jonathan. I'm 18 years old and a freshman. I'm majoring in Criminal Justice. After I graduate i'll seek employment in that field. I love Basketball even though I suck playing it. My biggest influence in my life is my father. I've seen him work countless hours to provide for my family. Hes the smartest man I know. If I manage to be half the man he is i'll be more than content. My goal in life is to get a good paying job to maintain myself and my family when the time comes. I want to feel like going to school for 17 years was worth it. One historical event that shaped me was 9/11. I was in 2nd grade and I remember everything was chaotic. At a very young age I came to realize that the United States isn't untouchable. People would always say the U.S was the most powerful country but that day proved otherwise. Going to school so close to ground zero really makes me observe myself. And value everything I have. 9/11 definitely shaped me as a person. I never go a day without thanking God for everything I have.

  1. I agree with you on wanting that feeling of going to school being worth it. I can honestly say it has open a lot of doors for me and I have met many different people from many different cultures and its great. 9/11 was very historical for me as well because like you I believed the United States was untouchable, at least that what we all make it seem like. Although I'm a education major I know Criminal justice is a great field...from what I see on t.v I always say cops have all the phone. Keep up the good work and don't get discourage. It will all be worth it. Good luck !

  2. I agree with you, and your main focus to obtain a good job in the future. When you stated that you want to make sure those 17 years of school does not just go to waste is true. I feel the same way, because in college we decided to continue our education. Others in the other hand have their own reasons why they don’t attend college. When I was growing up I was also told by my fourth grade teacher that the United States is well protected, but then 4 days later 9/11 happen. That’s when I too realized we were not, and at any moment anything can happen. When the 9/11 happen I saw on the news how the N.Y.P.D helped people. I see that you plan to help others in the future, that’s a great major trying to help others when help is needed. Also if you decided to choose that major, you have courage and you now know that the United states needs protection at any time.

  3. I agree with you i think education is important and one needs education to continue to a better life. As for 9/11 yes it was an event that I think affected everyone. Everyone thinks that we are safe here that the people that are supposed to protect us couldnt do anything about that attack on 9/11. I believe the major of criminal justice is a great one and i think that there is alot of different jobs in this particular field.
